Warning to anyone wanting a Passport!

Make sure you have a STATE issued birth certificate. Some may say DUH! here, but I have used the same birth certificate (BC) for nearly 40 years. Issued by the hospital where I was born, and signed by people who actually WITNESSED my birth. But thats not good enough for a passport apparently. I have used this BC for nearly 40 years, 2 marriages, a social security card, a drivers license, and to get into the military. Apparently it was good enough for them, and for getting me Secret level clearance while I was in the military, but not good enough to enter/exit the country.
Now going to cost an additional $30 to expedite being sent a state issued BC, and another $60 to expedite my passport to make sure I get in time for our trip to the Caymans.

Pic of the Day...and still sick

Going to attempt to post a picture a day...though I am sure it will be like a picture every couple days. They will be added to the Gallery at the same time I post them here. Since I have been sick, and haven't taken many pictures recently.

Today I pulled one out of the archive. It is from my recent trip to Sam Houston National Park, the Four Notch loop trail. A 10 mile loop that I solo'ed. Stopped overnight just because I wanted to. Stopped at Hidden Lake, the picture is of Hidden Lake, looking back towards what would be my campsite.

Being sick sucks

Been sick for over a week now. My father/daughter trip got cut short as it went from my head down into my chest. Combined with the completely drained of energy feeling kept me from having any fun and making it so that we didn't get to do much. In hopes of at least letting my daughter salvage something out of the weekend, we came home two days early. I am spending the entire day in bed today, and maybe tommorow in hopes of letting my body clear this crap out.

Today at least is a good day for it, my oldest is spending the day over at a friends house. My wife and youngest went to the zoo with some friends. So I have had the entire day in a nice quiet house.

Photography, my latest and greatest hobby/obsession. Actually an old hobby turned new again. The only holding me back from taking more photo's is this stupid cold/flu. Makes doing anything a chore.

We have some inexpensive studio lighting, and a backdrop stand. Working on making a muslin backdrop, then I can start working on portraits. Also interested in doing all kinds of other photos, nature, people, etc. Taking the camera on the father/daughter trip later this week, hopefully I will get some decent shots.
